The main square of Sucre, an outstanding place to take a stroll, relax and soak in the beauty of the city. Declared historical and cultural heritage in 2014, it is one of the most beautiful squares in Bolivia. As it usually happens in any plaza, there is constant activity: vendors, tourists, families, office workers. A dazzling and vibrant rushing that somehow also leaves space for taking a relaxing moment just enjoying the views.
Located right at the center of the city, the square is flanked by the two most important buildings of the city: the Cathedral and Casa de la Libertad. The Plaza is surrounded by many cafes, souvenir shops, and it houses many of the city’s festivities.

The Casa de la Libertad was the building in which it was signed the declaration of independence of Bolivia on 6th august 1825. Nowadays it is a museum paying tribute to the most crucial moment in Bolivia’s colonial history. The declaration and other documents related to Bolivia’s history are on display in the museum.
